May 13, 2023Public Health Unveils a New Delivery Service for Narcan and More | Mecklenburg County News Releases
Access to healthcare has new meaning for residents in Mecklenburg County. Public Health is unveiling a new service through public health medical vending machines also known as kiosks. The kiosks will hold Naloxone, also known as Narcan, COVID tests, and sexual health kits. All items are free. The County’s first kiosk is available inside the Ella B. Scarborough Community Resource Center at 430 Stitt Road in Charlotte.
“This is an innovative way to expand access to these harm reduction tools for our residents,” said Dr. Raynard Washington, Mecklenburg County Public Health director. “The kiosks will allow us to reach more residents while creating efficiencies for both residents and our staff.”
A second medical supply kiosk will be installed outside the Valerie C. Woodard Community Resource Center at a later date.
To receive the free supplies, residents while at the machines, will register for the medication with their phones for verification. The registration will also allow for any pending or needed follow-up appointments. Once registered, the kiosk will release the products to residents.
